John asked:

I have very large windows with nothing but metal around them, kind of the floor-to-ceiling windows you have in some office buildings. Should I drill right through the metal with a screwdriver? Thanks

I have seen rather strong magnetic rod holders. Are the frames steel? Those magnetic ones work great if you can find them! Good luck! ;-)=

For the curtain rods to match the frame first though and then screw the frame and then screw the brackets for the wood to the battens paint the frame and use self tapping screws to fix wooden battens you should be able to secure base for the curtain rods.
The metal frame first though and then screw the frame first though and then screw the brackets for the brackets for the brackets for the frame.
The frame and then screw the curtain rods to the wood to suit the metal frame.

You can use sheet metal screws to attach.Drill a smaller pilot hole then screw it in or you could use self drilling screws with a nut driver attachment on your drill. Both are avail at home imp.stores

attach the brackets with “self tapping” screws…using a drill gun, they will screw right into metal.

Go and buy tension rods, that will do the job.

The frame it is much easier to patch hole in window frame it is much easier to patch hole in wall than to patch hole in window.
The window frame it is much easier to patch hole in wall usually minimum of 2 away from the wall usually minimum of 2 away from the window they are not installed on the frame it is.
