What is a good type fabric for sewing my own curtains?

      Believe that would be a heavy weight cotton.

      The fabric for more density machine wash dry and cut it drapes nicely you want to line them with slightly lighter fabric before you want something tightly woven and thick but soft so it drapes nicely you measure out.
